Tax Resolution Attorney John P. Willis Alerts His Readers To The Fact That If They Haven’t Filed 2019 Taxes, The IRS May Owe Them Some Of The $1.5 Billion In Unclaimed Refunds.
Tax resolution attorney John Willis, CEO, and founder of IRSALLSTAR, addresses the fact that millions of people have not yet filed their 2019 tax returns and alerts those people to the fact that there is $1.5 Billion in unclaimed tax refunds waiting to be claimed.
Fairhope, AL, April 21 2023: Tax Attorney John Willis, CEO and founder of IRSALLSTAR.com, recently published a blog on his website entitled “2022 Tax Filing Deadline Passed But There Are Unclaimed Refunds From 2019 Tax Year.” Mr. Willis encourages those delinquent taxpayers to take time to gather documents and get on the right side of the IRS while perhaps also getting some extra and unexpected cash.
As Willis notes, “The official deadline for filing 2022 federal taxes has just passed.” He continues adding, “If you managed to get your taxes filed on time, congratulations. I’m sure you feel a sense of relief.”
“However,” Willis adds, “there are quite a few people who have not filed their taxes from 2019. And the IRS has just released a notice saying that among those who have not filed their taxes since 2019, there are unclaimed tax refunds totaling about $1.5 billion. Granted,” Willis writes, “that was a tough year for everyone with the whole world being in the grips of the COVID-19 pandemic during the typical tax filing season.” https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/time-running-out-to-claim-1-point-5-billion-in-refunds-for-tax-year-2019-taxpayers-face-july-17-deadline
“With everything that happened in 2020,” says Willis, “I’m not surprised to hear that so many refunds have gone unclaimed. Apparently,” he adds,” according to the IRS, the average median refund is $893. If you go to the IRS website, you’ll be able to see a state-by-state calculation showing how many people are potentially eligible for the refunds in your state.”
Willis goes on to say, “The IRS says that they often see students, part-time workers and others with low income forgetting to file a tax return never realizing they may be owed a refund. But it’s not too late. There’s still time to start gathering past records and file those 2019 taxes by July 17, 2023. Once that date has passed, those refunds become the property of the U.S. Treasury.”
